A car sales company director died after his Mercedes was involved in a crash on the A34, the coroner’s court heard.

A post-mortem found that Charles Williams, 24, died from traumatic head injuries, assistant coroner Nicholas Graham said on Friday (January 20).

A full inquest into the death of Mr Williams, a car sales director who lived in Whitecross, near Abingdon, will take place on June 7.

Earlier this month, police said that the white Mercedes E63 AMG left the A34 northbound between the Marcham interchange and the Faringdon Road overbridge near Shippon at around 9.15am on January 3.

The car struck the embankment then came to a stop on the overbridge.

PC Ruan Brink, of Thames Valley Police’s roads policing unit, appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward or check dash-cam footage ‘in case it may have captured something in the lead-up to the crash or the crash itself that could assist with the investigation’.
