A GROUP of young entrepreneurs have designs on the future after coming up with their own range of scarves.

The 12-strong team from Oxford High School, called Toucan, have seen their designs become reality after a Scottish mill agreed to make them from Merino wool.

Now they have attracted the attention of online retailer Brotique, for which they have designed a men’s scarf and they have also sent designs to high street giant Debenhams.

Joint managing director Hannah Darnton, 16, commented: “We were very keen to ensure all our products were made in Britain and we have had a very positive response from a lot of big companies.”

Toucan is being run as part of the Young Enterprise scheme which encourages teenagers to set up and run their own businesses over the course of an academic year.

Ms Sehmi added: “It’s strange being in class with someone and then running a business with them as well. But we have developed a real mutual respect for each other.”
