FOLK fans have a rare chance to see festival band Home Service play a more intimate venue when they perform in South Oxfordshire next week.
Normally seen in 1,000-plus arenas, the band led by War Horse and Sharpe star John Tams will be taking to the stage of the 200-capacity Nettlebed Village Club, High Street, Nettlebed, on Monday, June 3, at 8pm.
Eight-piece Home Service, who won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards’ Best Live Act 2012 category, was originally formed out of the creative nucleus of the Albion Band line-up that produced the classic “Rise Up Like the Sun” album.
As well as lead vocalist and guitarist Tams, the band comprises Graeme Taylor, electric guitar, vocals; Steve King, keyboards, vocals; Jon Davie, bass guitar, vocals; Michael Gregory, drums; Paul Archibald, trumpet, flugel horn; Roger Williams, trombones and Andy Findon, reeds.
