BRIT-folk band Mawkin bring their own particular sound to South Oxfordshire next week.
The five-piece group, known for fusing folk, world, jazz, prog and rock, are appearing at the Nettlebed Village Club, High Street, Nettlebed, in a concert on Monday, June 10, starting at 8pm.
Fresh from their collaboration with Jim Causley that gained them three nominations at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, they are busy forging a new sound that strengthens their instrumental roots and explores the traditional folk canon from the British Isles and beyond.
Mawkin, who have played at more than 150 UK festivals and supported artists including Eliza Carthy, Show of Hands and Billy Bragg, comprises David Delarre (vocals, guitars and banjo), Jamie Delarre (fiddle), Nick Cooke (melodeon), Danny Crump (bass guitar) and Lee Richardson (drums).
