Tribute bands and local acts on bill at festival

Thousands of music lovers will be flocking to Thame on Sunday May 3rd for an annual festival.

Music in the Park, which started in 2011, features music and dance acts spread across three stages from noon until about 9pm.

Dubbed “Thame’s Big Day Out”, last year’s event saw 5,000 people visit Elms Park to enjoy the event, which also has a range of fun activities, plus food and trade stalls.

Headlining this year will be 1970s glamrock tribute band Slyde, who play the music of Slade, T Rex, David Bowie, Wizzard, The Osmonds, Mud and many more. There will be a variety of music and dance performances on the three stages, including Beatles and Pink Floyd tribute acts, a number of local groups such as Thame Youth Theatre dance troupe, Thame Concert Band, Stagecoach Thame, Thame Pop Choir, Thame Children’s Choir and John Hampden School Choir.

One of the three stages, the Crash music tent, will feature acoustic performances by singer-songwriters.

There will also be the opportunity to turn up and play at Ben’s Buskstop.

See musicinthepark.org.uk for further details and the full line-up.

As well as fun activities for children and adults, there will be real ales plus stalls selling hot and cold food such as pizza, hog roasts, Thai dishes and curries, cakes and sweets.
