The Askew Sisters will be the next act to perform at the Unicorn Theatre.

The duo will be the latest leading lights in the British folk scene to perform at the intimate Abingdon venue, with performers already this year including Gordon Giltrap, Louise Jordan and Lady Maisery.

The Askew Sisters will perform at the Unicorn on Friday, November 6.

This year marks their 10th anniversary and their third album, In the Air or the Earth, was released in 2014 to high critical acclaim.

Emily and Hazel are fast becoming one of the most popular duos on the English folk scene. From dark ballads to uplifting dance tunes, they play with driving energy and unity.

The sisters use fiddle, melodeon and concertina, creating cinematic arrangements that get to the heart of each song.

Doors for the concert on November 6 open at 7pm. Tickets are £10, on sale at the Unicorn Theatre in Checker Walk, Remade Guitars in Stratton Way or musicattheunicorn.org.uk

Concerts at the theatre, part of the Abingdon Abbey Buildings, are staged by Music at the Unicorn, a charitable group. All profits go to improving the facilities and bringing a greater variety of bands, singers and instrumentalists to Abingdon.
