THIS year being the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War, Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group is staging the very moving play, The Accrington Pals, by Peter Whelan.
It seemed a good idea during the war for friends and colleagues from villages and even factories to join up together — but it had devastating consequences when they went over the top together and were mown down.
That is what happened to the Accrington Pals brigade and the play, often moving, often funny, highlights the changes to the community that such an event created.
The play will be staged at Southmoor village hall from tomorrow to Saturday.
