AN evening of The Music of Shakespeare will be performed in East Hendred next week.
Jubilate! chamber choir will put on a concert at St Mary’s church, from 7.30pm.
The choir will be directed by Simon Whalley, music fellow of Keble College, Oxford, and a teacher at Abingdon School.
Composers featured will include Thomas Morley, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, Benjamin Britten and George Shearing.
The audience will be able to enjoy an after-show reception in the gardens of Hendred House.
The event is in aid of the Holy Trinity Monastery in East Hendred, which was founded by three Benedictine nuns from Stanbrook Abbey, Worcester, in 2004.
The nuns live in rented accommodation, which is insufficient to allow them to offer accommodation to guests and those wishing to spend reflective time on retreat.
They are seeking to raise £2m over the next five years to enable them to offer support to others, including work for the blind and visually impaired.
Tickets are £20 and are available from Holy Trinity Monastery, in St Mary’s Road, or by visiting the website at benedictinenuns.org.uk Further details of the evening are available from Catherine Wybourne on 01235 833269/07952 627277.
