FANS of that increasingly popular and charming little instrument the ukulele are in for a treat next month.

Fun ukulele group Southampton Ukulele Jam will be giving a concert at Didcot Civic Hall on Saturday, May 26, with the doors opening at 7.30pm.

And, for those who fancy the chance to strum along as well, there is a complimentary ukulele workshop being held at the venue beforehand from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Southampton Ukulele Jam was formed in 2008 and has become one of the south of England’s leading fun ukulele groups, playing everything from punk to folk.

With the group varying in size between ten and 40 performers, it is expected that at least 20 of them will be performing at the Didcot concert.

The group is a voluntary organisation and no one is paid for any performances, with all fees received going to charity.

Supporting the ukulele players for the Civic Hall show will be folk duo, A Bit of Nonsense.

Tickets for the show, presented by Didcot Arts Forum and supported by Didcot Town Council, are £6 each and include the workshop. They are available from Didcot Information Centre or the Civic Hall on 01235 512436. Tables can be booked for six or more. For further information call 01235 511515 or email didcot.daf@btinternet.com
