A DARK adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has kicked off its tour of Oxfordshire.
Alice, written by Laura Wade, is the first tour by Botley-based Gobo Theatre Foundation and is a modern take on the tale.
The first performance took place at Longworth Village Hall on Wednesday.
It coincides with the 150th anniversary of the first telling of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Emmy Owen stars as Alice, Adam Elliott as the Mad Hatter, Reece Miller as the White Rabbit, Dean Lamb as the Doormouse and Suzy Nutt as the hare.
While the Alice and White Rabbit actors stay in their roles, the other three young actors rotate amongst the characters.
Mr Elliott, 23, from Kidlington said: “It was absolutely brilliant, the audience were fantastic. Everyone was having a whole lot of fun with it.”
Gobo Theatre Foundation is a charity set up to support 16 to 25-year-olds dedicated to following a career in theatre but who have no professional experience.
The next performance is at Great Milton Neighbours Hall, and there will be a performance at Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, Oxford, on Friday, November 16.
