THREE Berinsfield homes were raided for drugs by police yesterday in a bid to tackle dealing in the area.

Properties were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act in Colwell Drive, Wey Road, and Evenlode Drive.

A warrant was also executed in Aldridge Close, Benson.

Drugs paraphernalia were found in the three of the properties and traces of suspected Class A drugs in one. But no arrests were made.

At a 7am briefing at Wallingford Police Station, officers were told the targets could have links to metal theft and the dealing of Class A and B drugs.

The raids came after arson attacks on a home in Lay Avenue house in September and October.
Pcso Sarah Jones, of the village neighbourhood police team, said people involved in antisocial behaviour also had links to suspected drug dealing.

She said: “There has been a lot of worry that there has been a lot of drugs and antisocial behaviour.

“Today is about reassuring people we do listen to what they say.”

Insp Mark Harling, Thames Valley Police neighbourhood inspector for South Oxfordshire, said: “Our intelligence was suspicious enough to satisfy magistrates that drugs were being dealt at these addresses.

“There are a few people who like to be antisocial and intimidating. This is about us saying we are not going to be intimidated.”
