Kelly Green
sAN Oxfordshire resident so enamoured with Didcot Power Station’s towers she had them tattooed on her leg has been offered a tour of the venue.
Kelly Green, of Greater Leys, had the image forever inked on her shin as a mark of her appreciation of the skyline-dominating plant ahead of its demolition.
And such was the reaction energy firm npower said it wanted to thank the 32-year-old for her dedication and invited her to visit.
A spokesman said: “Didcot A Power Station has always been a proud member of the local community, and it will be a very sad day when the station closes. The memory of this station will certainly live on, not only etched in people’s minds and hearts but also on their legs. We are touched by Mrs Green’s tribute to the station.”
Since publication in the Oxford Mail yesterday, colleagues and friends have clamoured to see the artwork.
She said: “Loads of people have been asking to see it and it has gone down really well on Facebook.
“I’m really glad I had it done now because the reaction has been great, it’s been such fun.”
Mrs Green grew up in Didcot and said the towers held a fond place in many people’s hearts as a sign of home. She enlisted Heaven and Hell Tattoos in Cowley to ensure their image at least would survive.
