A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters along with a dog and a cat from a house fire in Abingdon this afternoon.

Firefighters broke down a door of the home in Masefield Crescent after being called by a neighbour at about 3.40pm.

The cause of the fire and the woman's condition is unknown this afternoon, but she was taken to hospital.

A reader who sent in this picture of emergency services at the scene said it was the back door firefighters used and they were seen to carry the lady out.
