The rejection of plans to build 160 homes near Drayton Road is clearly good news for many Abingdon residents.
But it may be too early to celebrate. It would not be a surprise if the developer was to submit a revised application, or even appeal.
And without a proper housing plan in place, the Vale of White Horse may find it more difficult to fight off such a challenge than it should.
