TEENAGER Charlotte Apps took part in a year-long bake-off to raise £2,000 for charity.
Charlotte, 15, from Denchworth, raised the money for Oxford Children’s Hospital’s teenage cancer fund when she was ill and had a year off school.
Her mum Sheila Apps works at the hospital as a consultant paediatric oncologist.
Charlotte, who is a student at Greene’s Tutorial College, Oxford, put a flier around the village and her fundraising, offering a selection of cakes, apple tarts and brownies baked to order, took off.
In October, she held a cake sale with support from The Fox pub in the village, which also asked her to supply apple tarts for its menu.
She said: “I’m a teenager and because there are other teenagers in hospital it meant more to me.
“It is really important that they have their own space in hospital.”
Miss Apps added: “I really like baking and I thought it would be a good way to raise some money.
“I have always done it as a hobby from a young age and over the last year I got much better at it.”
Charlotte is now busy preparing for her GCSEs and has put the baking on hold for the time being.
