David Pope calls his insurers after the A420 accident
LONG delays were caused after a three-vehicle crash on the A420 yesterday.
The Swindon-bound carriageway was closed for several hours after two lorries and a Honda Civic collided.
Police were called at 7.29am and one of the lorries had to be pulled from a ditch.
The crash happened near the turning to Bampton, and drivers were urged to find an alternative route to Swindon and the rest of the South West.
At the same time, workers were attempting to get a car out of a nearby field after an incident the night before.
Police were called to the field off the A4095 at Curbridge, near Witney, at 11.43pm on Thursday.
A Ford S-Max people carrier had left the road and was badly damaged in the field.
Kevin Flatman, from Cotswold Vehicle Recovery, was sent to the scene at around midnight to get the car out of the field, but had to return the next day.
He said: “The only way we could do it was to close the road and pull it out. The road was closed for about 45 minutes.
“The driver wasn’t local, and there’s a bit of a humpback bridge there, so that an the bad weather led to an unfortunate set of circumstances.”
Nobody was hurt in either of the incidents.
