A PAEDOPHILE who admitted making hundreds of indecent images of children as young as six months old was jailed for two years yesterday.

Former Didcot Power Station worker Robert Wills, of The Croft, Didcot, admitted four counts of making indecent images, four counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence, and two counts of distributing indecent photos at Oxford Crown Court.

The offences – covering 758 images – date from 2006 to 2011.

Sentencing the 36-year-old, recorder Godfrey Carey said: “The court takes the view that these are so serious that only an immediate sentence of custody can meet the justice of the matter.

“The court notes the fact that you have not offended before these offences.

“It accepts your remorse and shame and the difficulties you have experienced in coming to terms with that.”

The indecent images, which were found by police on a desktop computer, laptop and a hard drive, were of children aged between six months and 14 years and up to level five, the most severe category.

Prosecuting, Cathy Olliver said: “He said it was all fantasy.”

Defending, Jane Malcolm said: “He takes full responsibility for his action.

“This is a man who by his guilty plea and admissions in interview has admitted what he has done.”

She said he had first discovered indecent images of children when he was searching for adult pornography online and added: “He got interested in what other people were interested in and got involved in it.

“He was essentially fantasising.”

She added: “He is very upset, he feels incredibly ashamed of what he has done.

“His relationship with his partner broke down as a result of the arrest and charge for these matters.

“He has become depressed as a result.”

For the four counts of making indecent images, Wills was given 12 months on each count to run concurrently.

For the four counts of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence, Wills was given nine months on each to run concurrently.

And for two counts of distributing indecent photos, Wills was given two years on each to run concurrently, running concurrently with all the previous counts.

Wills has to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
