UP to 68 hours to download a movie, three minutes for a song and 40 seconds to get a book.

That’s why one South Oxfordshire parish containing four villages is campaigning to improve its broadband speeds.

Residents of Berrick Salome, Berrick Prior, Roke and Rokemarsh suffer sluggish speeds of 0.2 to 0.8 megabits per second (Mbps).

Villagers hope to get a grant from a Government and Oxfordshire County Council £13.86m broadband fund to pay for the equipment needed to speed up connections.

Berrick Salome and Roke Parish Council’s Anne Kilduff said: “It’s particularly important in our parish, as a lot of people work from home, run their business from home or are children doing their homework.”
