THERE was an international effort to cultivate a growing interest in Abingdon this week.

Thirteen teachers from schools in Germany, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and Ireland visited Rush Common School to plant trees in a miniature forest. It is pictured being officially opened above.

The visit was part of the school’s international Comenius project to learn more about other European cultures.

Rosie Herridge, six, said: “In Comenius club we learn about different cultures.

“I have learnt that in our country we have clean water but not all countries do.”
