Officers were called to one of the car parks in St George's Road after being told there had been a car crash just before 11pm yesterday.
An orange Peugeot 206 was on its roof.
Police began to search the neighbouring area and found a sawn-off shotgun in a garden plus what offers suspect are class A drugs.
Det Sgt Darren Cartwright, of Abingdon CID, said a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
He added: “I would like to reassure people that no shots were fired during the incident and no-one was threatened with the firearm.
“The recovery of the shotgun is a very positive result as it means an illegal weapon has now been taken out of circulation.
“Our investigation is continuing. (The two arrested people) are both in custody and are due to be questioned about the incident later today.”
