A MAN was handed a community order following a police raid in Littlemoor, Weymouth.

Nigel Hellier, 54, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

He was arrested by police after a raid on an address in Littlemoor on Thursday, March 28.

A significant amount of cannabis was located and seized during the raid.

He was ordered to complete a community order and pay a £60 fine.

PC Aidan Meredith, of Littlemoor Safer Neighbour-hood Team, said: “This conviction is the result of Weymouth Police listeningto the concerns of our local public and directing our resources to achieve a positive result for the wider community.

Dorset Police will not tolerate drug related crime and we will robustly pursue and clamp down on these offenders.

“My message to drug dealers is that Mr Hellier’s conviction should serve as a warning to you that the police will not stop until you have been caught and put you before the courts.

“I’d also encourage members of public with concerns about drug dealing and related crime in their area to contact us in confidence on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.’’
