CHILDREN have been testing the optimum size of paper to make paper airplanes in a countywide science competition.
Forty-nine Oxfordshire primary schools took part in the Big Science Event, with pupils designing and testing their own science experiments.
The final took place at Science Oxford on June 27 and West Oxford Community Primary School won by testing whether sound can pop bubbles.
The school won £1,500 worth of new playground equipment from competition sponsors Playforce.
John Hampden Primary School in Thame came second, with pupils testing which size paper is best for paper airplanes.
Teacher David Nutt said: “I am really proud. It is brilliant that they came second.”
The school held its own competition with Year Fives in February to decide which group would represent them.
