Veto backed over homes at former Wantage police station

CAMPAIGNERS have welcomed Vale of White Horse District Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for sheltered accommodation at Wantage's former police station.
Churchill Retirement Living wanted to build 44 apartments at the Church Street site, which also housed the town's former magistrates' court. Campaigners said the scheme was a waste of potential retail space.
Julie Mabberley, of the Wantage and Grove Campaign Group for sustainable development, thanked people who had submitted comments to the district council.
