13 proves lucky for A* girl Natascha
IT was lucky number 13 for a Faringdon Community College teenager when she opened her GCSE results.
Natascha Blesing, from Longcot, managed a clean sweep of 13 A*s as well as an A in additional maths – the top grade – and an A in her AS-Level world development exam.
The 16-year-old from Longcot took the AS a year early.
She said: “I’m really happy, it’s really exciting.
“I was very surprised – particularly by the PE and religious studies marks. I’m not very good at PE.
“I wasn’t that nervous about results day in the weeks coming up to it, but just before I opened the envelope I was. I did open it quite calmly and slowly though.
“I stood in the corner, because I didn’t really want to be around friends – on the results sheets there are lots of different numbers, so I wanted to look properly through them.”
Natascha is celebrating at Reading Festival this weekend.
Her A*s were in maths, chemistry, biology, physics, English literature, English language, German, music, geography, religious studies, statistics, graphics and PE.
Natascha said they were not particularly an easy ride – especially the AS-Level, which she had lessons for during school lunch breaks.
On top of her exam success, Natasha plays the cello in the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra, and also plays the drums, trumpet and piano.
She is going on to take maths, further maths, chemistry, geography and world development for A-Levels at Faringdon Community College.
Although she is not sure what she wants to do in the future she wants to go to university and is deciding between maths, science, international development and geography routes.
The college’s headteacher, David Wilson, said: “Natascha has done fantastically well. She is a lovely student, well liked by lots of friends and works hard.
“She also has a bit of a competitive streak, which no doubt helped her achieve the results she got.”
