A KILLER was found dead in his prison cell the day he was due to arrange a parole meeting for his freedom.
George Ireland, 56, died of natural causes in Bullingdon Prison, near Bicester, an inquest at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard yesterday.
He had been in jail for 26 years after being convicted of manslaughter.
The inquest heard he was found on January 31 at 5.10am on the floor of his cell at the prison.
Ireland had been an inmate at Bullingdon since December 29, 2010.
Bullingdon’s head of reducing reoffending, Carol Gaskin, said: “The day he died he was due in a meeting to discuss his next parole board meeting. That was to discuss final details with the parole board.”
His GP, Dr Isabel Chu, told the inquest he had a medical history of ischemic heart disease, epilepsy and high blood pressure.
