A BEER to support this year’s Poppy Appeal is proving so popular that three batches have had to be brewed.
Royal British Legion selected XT Brewery to produce “Lest We Forget” for Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertford.
Profits from sales of the 4.2 per cent red ale – on sale from the beginning of the month – will go to the charity. It is being served in Legion bars and pubs including Oxford’s Lamb and Flag and Far From the Madding Crowd until November 11.
Russ Taylor, co-owner of the Long Crendon brewery – pictured left with colleague Gareth Xifaras – said: “We were very proud to have been selected and thought it was a great idea.
“We decided that it should be amber to match the poppy colour.
“I thought we would only need to brew it once but we have had to do it several times to keep up with demand.
“It really has been a fantastic project.”
