Twelve tonnes of hay bales have been burning through the night.
The bales were spotted alight at just before 8.45pm last night in a field off the B2192 between Ringmer and Halland with smoke billowing across the countryside.
Crews from Lewes and Seaford were at the scene for up to five hours battling the fire in an open field and returned to the scene this morning to monitor the fire.
