CHRISTMAS celebrations are well under way in Didcot following the town carol concert.

The annual concert was hosted by Didcot Girls’ School in Manor Crescent and took place in the school’s Cockcroft Hall on Wednesday.

Those taking part included pupils from Northbourne Primary School, pupils from the girls’ school, Didcot Choral Society Singers, and the Didcot Sings group, conducted by Gill Suter.

Mrs Suter from Blewbury, near Didcot, said: “We set up the Didcot Sings community choir in September and we have about 14 members so far but we would like more. We rehearse in All Saints Church in Lydalls Road on Thursday at 7.30pm and would love people to join us — we sing what our members want to sing.”

Her son Jono, 15, was one of the singers at the concert.

Mrs Suter added: “Didcot Choral Society hosts the town carol concert every year and invites other choirs to come along.

“There must have been at least 150 people taking part, including lots of children from primary schools and groups — the hall was packed.”
