A SCHOOLGIRL donned an apron and chef’s hat to cook up tasty treats in a hands-on cookery experience after winning a design a Christmas card competition. Tesco invited pupils at Faringdon Junior School to design a Christmas card ahead of this year’s festive season. Marika Pokrzywinska, 10, was crowned the winner receiving a £250 donation and a Junior Chef cookery class for her and her friends.
Store manager, Carl Pettersson picked the winning entry and presented the prize. He said: “The finished Christmas cards look absolutely fantastic. Marika’s design was festively fun and was wonderfully colourful.”
Marika’s colourful penguin design has featured on a unique Tesco Christmas card – exclusively available at the store, on Park Road. All proceeds from cards will go to Faringdon Junior School.
Store Manager Carl explained, “Running a competition like this has been a great way to engage and establish relationships with the local schools.”
Mrs Doreen Harris, Head of Upper School at Faringdon Junior School said: “We are incredibly pleased and proud of Marika.”
