MORE than £300 has been donated to help train young people at an education centre.

Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron handed over the cheque to the Inclusive Care & Education centre in Carterton.

It was among groups to receive cash from the Waitrose branch in the Woolgate Centre, Witney.

The supermarket donates money to local charities through the token scheme in its branches.

The Burford Road centre was handed a cheque for £315.

Managing director Jill Bull said the money would help the centre pay for an online course for the young people who work in its café.

She said: “At the café we work with young adults with learning disabilities to give them training in a work environment.

“They have work opportunities and training placements where they can learn customer service, basic food hygiene and other skills.

“The online training can be done over a period of time, rather than in a four-hour bulk session which they will not be able to retain.

“They can do this over ten weeks so it is helpful to us.”

She added: “It was really nice to see Mr Cameron again. He opened the centre in 2010 and he is very interested in the work we do.”
