Apprenticeship advice pops up
6:00am Friday 24th January 2014 in News
YOUNG workers and small businesses in Abingdon are being encouraged to consider apprenticeships.
ApprenticeSHOP, a pop-up shop, will open in the town on Monday to give information on apprentiship schemes to young people and their parents.
Staffed by experts from Oxfordshire County Council, Oxfordshire Apprenticeships and the National Apprenticeship Service, the pop-up shop will be in the Choose Abingdon Community Shop in the Bury Street precinct.
Claudia Taylor and son PJ, 17, visited an ApprenticeSHOP in Bicester last month.
Mrs Taylor said: “It was extremely useful and it gave us another avenue to pursue in the very difficult task of finding a career for a 17 year old with learning difficulties.
“The advisers on the day were very welcoming and gave us lots of information to take away and think about.”
A ‘Making Sense of Apprenticeships’ event takes place on Thursday and will see a panel of experts on hand to answer questions and provide details on grants available.
