RESIDENTS are being asked to lend a hand and clean up Didcot during a community litter picking day.

The event will start from 9am on Saturday, March 15, meeting in the Civic Hall car park in Britwell Road.

Town council leader Margaret Davies, pictured, said: “It is a lovely opportunity to give Didcot a bit of a spring clean. There is always a lot of junk about, it is surprising what you find.

“We like to go out and do this early in the season before people go out to use the green spaces that make Didcot so pleasant.”

Last year 14 bags of rubbish and 24 bags of recycling were collected in three hours.

Residents scoured Ladygrove, Mendip Heights, Station Road, Macdonald Close, around the Scout Hut to the Wheatsheaf and along the A4130 from Marsh Bridge to Tesco.

Larger items were reported to the fly tipping team at South Oxfordshire District Council for collection.

Organisers at Didcot Town Council are calling for volunteers to help beat last year’s effort.
