DOUBLE Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ayton will be returning to competitive racing for this year’s Extreme Sailing Series.
The former Weymouth-based golden girl has joined The Wave, Muscat, which has just renewed its partnership with Oman Sail.
Ayton’s Extreme 40 debut follows a three-year break in competitive sailing.
She triumphed in the Yngling class first securing gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and then defended the title in 2008, winning gold in Beijing.
Mum-of-two Ayton, 33, will be joining team-mates Nasser Al Mashari, America’s Cup sailor Kinley Fowler, UK skipper Leigh McMillan and Pete Greenhalgh when the series gets underway from February 20-23 in Singapore.
