AROUND 150 mourners gathered on Saturday for the funeral of Jayden Parkinson – the 17 year-old whose body was discovered in a Didcot cemetery.
The hour-long service took place at St Martin’s Church in Cheriton, near Jayden’s former hometown of Folkestone in Kent.
The body of Jayden was discovered in Great Western Cemetery, next to All Saints Church, on December 18, after a search involving more than 100 officers.
Jayden’s ex-boyfriend, Ben Blakeley, 22, from Reading, has been charged with her murder.
Blakeley, of Christchurch Road, and a 17-year-old boy from Didcot, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
The Rev Karen Beck, from All Saint’s Church, attended the funeral on Saturday. She said: “Her mum and sister made two very moving tributes to her during the service.
“It was very emotional, obviously, because of the tragic circumstances of her death, but it went very well.”
