Warnings for snow, heavy rain and storm-force winds are in place across Oxfordshire today.

A Met Office yellow warning has been issued, meaning residents should be aware that severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect them.

People are being advised to plan ahead and consider possible travel delays.

Met Office spokesperson Nicola Maxey said the warning for sleet and between 2cm to 5cm of snow for Oxfordshire was in place overnight until 10am today.

But the snow is not expected to settle, with a band of heavy rain due to cross the county.

Between 15 and 25mm of rain is set to fall from 9am until 9pm today. Ms Maxey said: “One of the real issues for the day will be the wind which could reach speeds of 50 to 60mph.”

Winds over 40mph are classed as gale force with 55 to 63mph winds counted as storm-force.
