A selection of unusual ales will be on sale at the King’s Head and Bell’s fifth annual charity Winter Beer Festival.

The Abingdon pub, which is also celebrating its fifth year since opening, will donate 10p from every pint this weekend to Action For Children in Conflict.

Beers will include a chocolate and vanilla stout, Seven Seas, made with seven types of hop, and a guest ale made by Abingdon brewery Loose Cannon.

Pub chef Luke Kenyon, 25, said: “We will have 14 different beers. The chocolate and vanilla stout is my personal recommendation. I am also planning some delicious snacks to go with the beers.”

The East St Helen’s Street pub will also be screening the rugby over the weekend – including the England versus Ireland Six Nations clash on Saturday.

Landlord Steve Hipgrave, 39, said: “We’ll be celebrating our fifth year and our fifth festival, and it gets better every year.

“We will have beers that no one will have tasted before – there’s a wide range of tastes for anyone who comes down.”

He said the pub had been inspired to support Action for Children in Conflict by the ongoing war in Syria.
