A 32-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded guilty to voyeurism after installing a camera in the female changing rooms at Abingdon police station.

Christopher Richardson-Blake, of Redbridge, Peterborough, pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism and one count of theft yesterday at Oxford Crown Court.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said he was contracted to carry out electrical work at the police station, but officers discovered a camera had been installed in the female changing rooms.

Richardson-Blake, formerly of Foxdown Terrace, Wellington, Somerset, was subsequently arrested and charged with voyeurism between June 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012.

An HP laptop stolen from the police station was also discovered at his home and he was charged with its theft between October 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012.

Supt Andy Boyd, from Abingdon police station, said: “This was a particularly brazen offence.

“This demonstrated a complete lack of respect and a deliberate intrusion into their privacy.

“We are pleased Richardson-Blake took the decision to plead guilty in the face of overwhelming evidence, so the victims of this offence are at least spared a trial.”

Richardson-Blake will be sentenced on April 3 and was told by Judge Patrick Eccles to prepare himself for a prison sentence.

He was also required to sign the sex offenders register.
