ABINGDON pupils designed T-shirts in memory of schoolgirl Leah Graham.
A competition was held to support Leah’s Legacy, a cystic fibrosis charity set up after the 17-year-old died from the genetic disease last October.
Winner Lucy Sharrock, 12, of Larkmead School, designed a pink T-shirt decorated with butterflies and flowers, picked by Leah’s mum Selina Jeacock. Leah went to Fitzharrys School and John Mason School, but all of Abingdon’s schools took part.
Lucy said: “I wasn’t expecting to win but feel proud as I put a lot of effort into my design.”
The challenge was held by Specsavers staff in the Abbey Shopping Centre, who knew Leah as a customer.
Shop director Atul Vadgama said: “So many schools, children and teenagers wanted to get involved, it shows how much Leah’s story affected the community here in Abingdon.”
The T-shirts will be worn at a fundraisier at the shop on Saturday.
The charity raises awareness of cystic fibrosis, the importance of organ donation and raises money for Leah’s chosen charities – Helen and Douglas House hospice, Oxford Children’s Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The Harefield Hospital in London.
