PENSIONER Anne Freeman received a welcome Easter delivery of eggs from the Grove Brownies.

The group of girls, aged from seven to 11, make the visits to older residents in the community every year as part of an old local tradition, giving each person a hand-made card.

Oxford Lane resident Mrs Freeman, 84, who lives alone, said on Tuesday that it was a “lovely gesture”.

She said: “They have been coming around for years and they are lovely children.

“It is so kind and thoughtful of them to do it.

“The eggs were beautiful, nice and brown, and filled with golden yolk. We always know they will be round bringing us eggs for Easter.”

One Brownies leader, Carol Brown, has been delivering the eggs for 20 years and said it was the final time she would take part.
