THE Second Wallingford Scout Group had lots of awards to give out at its first awards night.

Leaders said the event was to celebrate an excellent year of achievement with badges for scouts, cubs and beavers and awards for two leaders who completed their training.

Ben Titchener, who became a Scout in February after graduating from Cubs, received a Chief Scout Silver Award, and said: “Scouting has given me a fantastic opportunity to do lots of activities and things that other people don’t get to do.

“It’s about having fun and adventure with good friends.”

Also presented at Wantage’s Masonic Hall on April 4 were badges and certificates achieved as a result of participating in the County Winter Challenge on March 1.

Thames Chiltern branch chairman Jane Titchener presented the two Beaver Chief Scout Bronze Awards, district commissioner Richard Buoys presented 20 Cub Silver Awards and deputy district commissioner Jon Payne presented five Chief Scout Gold Awards. Mr Buoys also presented Wood Beads to Robert McManus and Anna Ostojitsch.
