An inquest was opened into the death of 12-year-old cyclist Mateusz Kucinski yesterday.
Oxfordshire coroner Darren Salter said the boy, who lived in Cherrytree Close, was with two school friends when there was a collision with a car as he tried to cross the A420 last Saturday.
He said a post-mortem examination had shown Mateusz died from a severe head injury.
The inquest was adjourned for further investigations and a provisional date was set in October.
It comes as about 50 friends of the Matthew Arnold School pupil, known as Matty, gathered to play football in his memory yesterday on the village’s Millennium Green.
