Fun lovin' rocker plays barbecue for Wallingford contest winner
7:30am Tuesday 22nd April 2014 in News
AMANDA Hill hosted a barbecue for friends on Friday night with the music coming from a member of her favourite band.
The Wallingford resident won a competition to get the Fun Lovin’ Criminals drummer Frank Benbini to perform at her house as he toured the country to promote his new album.
The married mother-of-two was one of 14 competition winners to have Mr Benbini’s band Uncle Frank play in their homes.
Mrs Hill, 42, said about 40 family, friends and neighbours came to the show in her Fir Tree Avenue house. She said: “It was brilliant. It was a great party atmosphere. They played for about an hour in the back garden and it was fantastic.
"Everybody loved it. Everybody went away saying how good it was.”
She said the musician and his band stayed afterwards for the barbecue and signed autographs.
She said: “He was great fun. To actually have Frank turn up in your house, in your road, it is just really bizarre.
“But within about half an hour of him being here it was so natural. It didn’t feel strange.
“It was a one-off experience.”
She also said her eight-year-old son, Addison, got up to sing with the band.
Mr Benbini has been the band’s drummer since 2003. The band is best known for its track Scooby Snacks.
