A SEA of pink cyclists, runners, walkers and wheelchair users poured through Wantage on Sunday for the town’s first Standing Up To Cancer Day.

More than 500 people set off from the Market Place at 9.30am to run five, 10 or 20km.

It was organised by Ray Collins, who regularly runs charity events in Wantage, and two young cancer sufferers, Maisie Norton, 15, and eight-year-old Mikayla Beames.

Mr Collins, 44, said: “It was an amazing day. At one point we were walking up the bridleway between Lark Hill and Ardington and I looked back and you could just see this river of pink flowing between two yellow fields of rapeseed.”

Money raised is being donated to Cancer Research UK and a range of other cancer charities.
