PART of taxi fares will rise by 20 per cent in West Oxfordshire.
West Oxfordshire District Council approved a request by a group of seven taxi firm owners to increase the maximum fare for the first one-tenth of a mile from £2 to £2.40. The charge of 20p for eeach subsequent tenth of a mile remains unchanged.
The council held a 14-day public consultation, which ended on Thursday, and there were no objections to the rise from the public.
The revised changes come into force this week.
