AN after-school club is looking for answers after an Ofsted report saying it was not meeting its provision was published six months late.

Inspectors visited PAWS, the Drayton After School Scheme, in October, and a report about its findings was only published last Thursday.

Usually reports are publically available about a month after a visit.

After-school club chairwoman Melissa Head said she only received a copy of the report last week and was concerned as to why it had taken so long.

She said: “I am not particularly happy about this. It was a routine inspection and we carried out all the things we were asked to do and as far as we were concerned everything was sorted out.

“And then seven months later this turns up saying we are not meeting the requirements.”

In the report, Ofsted said it was called in for the inspection after a complaint was made when a child was injured but it gives no details of the injury.

Miss Head said the only significant injury at the club was in 2012 when a child received burns but that had been investigated and resolved at the time.

The club, which looks after 16 children between the ages of four and eight, takes place at Drayton Primary School.

Inspector Sheena Bankier said it is not meeting the quality and standards of early years provision and the Childcare Register.

That means the club will have to meet a number of welfare requirements and actions, but Miss Head said it already has.

Ofsted failed to respond when contacted by the Oxford Mail.
