WORK has started on a project to create a £70,000 outdoor gym at a Didcot park.

The town council is replacing the trim trail in Edmonds Park with a modern outdoor gym and contractors started work to install the equipment on Monday.

About £50,000 of the project is funded by Wren, which distributes landfill tax credits to good causes, with the rest of the cost is being met by developers and Didcot Town Council.

Following public consultation, a leg press, shoulder press, cross trainer and spinning bike were chosen.

The gym will be in three areas of the park so that residents can build running, jogging or walking into their exercise routines.

The council says the equipment will be suitable for adults and children of all ages.
