A TRUSTEE of a county-based education charity has spoken of her delight after being named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Liz Allen, a trustee of Abingdon’s National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE), received a CBE for services to education.

The charity offers teachers support in ways to challenge more able learners.

Mrs Allen said: “I am delighted and proud to receive the honour. It is much more than a personal acknowledgement, it recognises the significant, positive impact that everyone who works in schools and in educational charities can have on the lives of young people.”

NACE chief exectuive Rowena Gaston said: “We are delighted that Liz’s tremendous work has been recognised in this way.

“She is an ardent supporter of NACE’s work with more able learners and we greatly value her contribution to NACE as one of our trustees.”
