Glider comes down at the White Horse
A GLIDER pilot escaped uninjured after the aircraft came down at the White Horse Hill in Uffington this afternoon.
Emergency services were called just after 1.45pm, a police spokesman said.
The police said the aircraft had crashed but the fire service said it was not a serious incident.
A walker had spotted the glider landing at the historic site but there was no damage to the aircraft, a fire service spokeswoman said.
"It was something and nothing," she added.
A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to the area around the prehistoric monument at around 1.47pm after reports that the fixed wing glider had crashed.
"Paramedics and firefighters also attended the scene, but thankfully the 24-year-old pilot was uninjured in the collision."
Inspector Rachel Patterson added: “There were quite a few tourists at the scene and I would like to thank everyone for their assistance while the emergency services did their work and helped the pilot.”
