THE killer of Jayden Parkinson told police he was “evil” when he was questioned after his ex-girlfriend went missing.

Yesterday, a video interview made after Ben Blakeley was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping was played to a jury at Oxford Crown Court.

It was the 22-year-old’s third police interview since Jayden was last seen alive on December 3 and CCTV cameras captured the former couple together.

The jury was shown images, that we can reveal for the first time, of Blakeley and the 17-year-old at Oxford Railway Station at 4.06pm and then at Didcot Railway Station at 4.27pm. An image of the defendant making another journey from Didcot alone at 10.04pm was also shown.

The prosecution claims that in the period between the two trips Jayden was murdered in open countryside south of Didcot, after she told her former boyfriend she was pregnant.

During his interview on December 11 Blakeley refused to answer questions about the whereabouts of his ex-girlfriend, who had been missing for nine days.

In the video DC Justin Walsh told the suspect, who was wearing a dark top with the hood pulled up, he had “an awful habit of trying to manipulate this interview”.

To this Blakeley replied: “I’m an awful person. I’m an evil motherf*****, believe.”

He also told the officers interviewing him: “I don’t give a f*** about anything.”

Blakeley was released on bail after the interview and was then arrested on suspicion of murder the following day.

A statement from the officer who took him into custody said he was shaking as the handcuffs were put on and he had a claw hammer in his pocket.

Blakeley admits manslaughter and perverting the course of justice, but denies murder.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named, admits perverting the course of justice, but denies preventing a lawful burial.

Jayden’s body was discovered buried in the grave of Blakeley’s uncle Alan Kennedy in a cemetery next to All Saint’s Church in Didcot on December 18.

Yesterday, Detective Sergeant Mark Morton, from the Major Crime Team, was asked about the younger defendant, who told police where they could find the teenager’s remains.

His defence barrister Martin Steen read out the transcript of an interview the 17-year-old had after he was charged, having initially answered “no comment” to all police questions.

Asked if he helped hide Jayden’s body the suspect said: “Yes, but I was unaware it was her body.

“(Ben Blakeley) told me he had a dead dog and a dead cat. He sent me off as he put them in. And I came back and all I could see was mud and he was putting more mud in.”

Questioned about if he knew who killed Jayden he said: “No, I suppose it was (Ben Blakeley).”

But prosecutor Richard Latham asked DS Morton if this explanation of what happened had been accepted by the police.

The witness replied: “No.”

The trial continues.
