COMMUTERS travelling home by rail from London and Reading face delays of up to 20 minutes tonight, due to a signalling problem between Twyford and Maidenhead.

First Great Western services have been affected, traffic reports showed.

No estimate has so far been given for when normal services may resume.

It would seem, from the frequency of disruption on this important and heavily used stretch of line, that either the signalling system is worn out and should be replaced, or the piece of string it depends on is very frayed.

Why can't Network Rail sort these localized issues out once and for all??
